Now Hiring: Aerial Lineman - Fiber Optic Construction
About the Job

As an Aerial Lineman, you will be responsible for installing, upgrading, and repairing aerial fiber optic cables while ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. This role requires experience in aerial construction, the ability to climb poles and operate bucket trucks, and a commitment to following industry safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair aerial fiber optic, coaxial, and CATV cables.
  • Perform all aspects of aerial telecommunications construction, including pole transfers, new build, overlash, and strand construction.
  • Operate and work from bucket trucks, ladders, and pole-climbing gear.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and set up safe work areas using cones, signs, and barriers.
  • Read and interpret fiber construction plans and work orders.
  • Pull and place strand, fiber, and coaxial cables using standard aerial construction equipment.
  • Work with crew members and foreman to complete projects on schedule and within quality standards.
  • Assist with emergency maintenance and repairs as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in aerial fiber construction.
  • Knowledge of aerial cable installation techniques and industry standards.
  • Ability to climb utility poles and work at heights of up to 40 feet.
  • Experience working with bucket trucks, strand pulling, and lashing equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 100 lbs. as needed.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and industry safety regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and travel as needed.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours at a time).
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed.
  • Capable of performing tasks that involve prolonged standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, crouching, and crawling.
  • Specific vision abilities, including color vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
  • Ability to tolerate work in extreme weather conditions.

Working Conditions
This position operates in an outdoor environment, requiring work in varying weather conditions such as extreme cold, heat, rain, and wind. Exposure to construction sites, urban and rural environments, and potential risks such as natural gas or electrical shock is possible. Noise levels may vary from moderate to loud.
