Job summary

Dewberry seeks an experienced Remote Sensing Operator in its Tampa, FL office to work on airborne lidar and imagery projects for state and federal clients. The role requires independent field work, coordination with pilots and operations staff, and strong problem-solving in remote environments.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in sensor operation and GIS familiarity, with ability to travel and adapt to varying schedules, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Requires valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 8 weeks at a time.
  • Three-plus years of sensor operation and airborne data collection experience.
  • Strong understanding of aviation, GIS, remote sensing, or GPS surveying methods.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Collect airborne lidar and imagery data from fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Collaborate with pilots to evaluate weather and environmental conditions.
  • Handle data transfer from field to office and perform quality checks.
  • Lead sensor installation/uninstallation and troubleshoot sensor/software issues.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures and mentor junior staff.
