The Aerial Laborer is involved with the construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead fiber telecommunications. The Aerial Laborer will demonstrate a high level of quality and safety in all tasks.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair aerial telecommunications
• Safely operate equipment
• Perform construction tasks such as digging holes, placing cables, blow out pipes, and inner ducts in various conduit systems and open excavations.
• Ability to climb ladders, work in a bucket truck, and work aloft on poles up to 40 feet.
• Perform aerial tasks including new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and connect, rearrange, repair, and maintain outside cables.
• Attach/detach various hardware to wires, cables, and buildings.
• Read, understand, and interpret field prints to determine work requirements and potential issues.
• Ensure all installation work meets quality standards and complies with OSHA safety.
• Maintain responsibility for all vehicles and equipment that you use each shift.
• Be available for call outs on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Set up and maintain safe work environments, including using signage, cones, safety barriers, and flagging traffic when necessary.
• Understand and adhere to separation and clearance.
• If you are assigned a company vehicle, you will be responsible for stocking, cleaning, and reporting maintenance needs to the Fleet Manager.
  
  

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a construction laborer or in a similar labor-intensive role.
• Ability to safely and effectively operate various types of construction equipment and tools.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to driving and construction work.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor tasks in various weather conditions and environments.
• Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• This job will include traveling 2-5 days a week. You will receive hotel accommodations and per diem for every night you spend the night.
• Overtime is required and you must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays dependent on the job and the company's needs.
• Able to perform night maintenance and emergency callouts.
• Previous experience working in telecommunications is preferred but not required.
• Valid Driver's License with satisfactory driving record within company standards is required.
• Ability to safely climb poles with ladders.
• Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures is preferred but not required.
• Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction, including pole transfers, maintenance builds, new builds, cable installation, over-lash, and strand construction.
• Specific vision abilities needed include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
