Job summary

Future Infrastructure, a Primoris Company, is seeking a hands-on supervisor for aerial telecommunications construction in Austin, TX. You will lead crews installing fiber optic and telecom infrastructure, ensuring adherence to specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities include planning daily work, coordinating with managers and customers, maintaining records, and mentoring crew members. A strong safety mindset and ability to manage multiple projects are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years aerial telecommunications construction experience.
  • Minimum 1–2 years supervisory or crew leadership experience.
  • Ability to read/interpret construction prints, maps, and utility locate info.
  • Strong OSHA knowledge and safe-work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead aerial construction crews in fiber optic, coaxial, and telecom infrastructure installation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and assign daily work activities to crew members.
  • Conduct daily job site safety meetings and enforce safety policies.
  • Perform job site inspections for quality and compliance.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Utilities, and Customers.
  • Monitor production and keep projects on schedule and budget.
  • Maintain production reports, timesheets, and safety documentation.

Job Overview:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead aerial construction crews in the installation of fiber optic, coaxial, and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Plan, coordinate, and assign daily work activities to crew members.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project specifications, engineering prints, and customer requirements.
  • Conduct daily job site safety meetings and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform job site inspections to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Utilities, Municipalities, and Customers as required.
  • Monitor production goals and ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Maintain accurate records including production reports, timesheets, equipment inspections, and safety documentation.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members on construction methods, safety practices, and company procedures.
  • Identify and resolve field issues related to utilities, permitting, right-of-way concerns, and customer requirements.
  • Verify material inventory and coordinate material needs with warehouse and project personnel.
  • Conduct pre-job planning and hazard assessments.
  • Assist with emergency restoration and outage response activities when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of aerial telecommunications construction experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory or crew leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of aerial fiber optic installation methods and telecommunications construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction prints, maps, and utility locate information.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safe work practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in completing daily reports and production documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain customer-specific certifications as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Class A CDL preferred.
  • Fiber optic construction experience.
  • Telecommunications industry certifications.
  • Bucket truck operation experience.
  • Previous experience working on utility pole attachment projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of aerial construction techniques, strand placement, lashing, fiber placement, and pole transfers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, management, and field personnel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and mobile field reporting applications.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Ability to work from bucket trucks, ladders, and elevated positions.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs as required.
Working Conditions
  • Outdoor construction environment.
  • Exposure to moving traffic, utility infrastructure, and construction equipment.
  • Travel to various job sites within assigned markets.
  • May require overnight travel depending on project needs.
