Job summary

Florida Forest Service seeks a highly skilled rotorcraft pilot to command helicopters for wildfire suppression and prescribed burns in support of Fire Service operations.

As pilot in command, you will transport firefighting personnel, perform aerial ignition and suppression missions, and maintain currency with FAA ratings and safety standards. Occasional travel to emergencies may be required; base is Ocala, FL.

Qualifications

• FAA Commercial Pilot with Rotorcraft/Helicopter and Instrument-Helicopter ratings.
• Logged 1,000 hours helicopter flight time including 500 hours turbine time.
• FAA Class 1 or Class 2 Medical Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Pilot helicopters for aerial suppression of wildfires and initial/relieved attack.
• Transport firefighting personnel and aerial observers on fire and resource management missions.
• Perform preflight inspections, file flight plans, and complete post-flight duties.
