Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Wichita is seeking an experienced Advisor Technical to lead maintenance operations on the shop floor and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. You will supervise technicians, coordinate with engineering and procurement, and maintain schedules to minimize downtime.

The role requires deep technical expertise in aircraft heavy/line maintenance, strong communication, and the ability to train and mentor staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in performing aircraft heavy/line maintenance.
  • 1 year of experience with Bombardier product line.
  • Working knowledge of applicable aviation regulations (e.g., FARs).
  • Working knowledge of Repair Station Manual and aircraft maintenance inspection programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate shop floor issues with engineering, parts, tooling, and vendors.
  • Maintain aircraft schedules and support operations to meet schedules.
  • Train and mentor newly hired technicians; supervise trainers and issue licenses as required.
  • Provide input on technician hires, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Act on behalf of the Project Manager during absence; support Project Manager duties as needed.
  • Coordinate support activities across Operations and other departments.
  • Attend training classes to maintain and expand technical and supervisory skills.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Adhere to Bombardier General Work Rules.
  • In conjunction with the management team is responsible for communication and support of Service Center safety
  • Responsible for coordinating technical shop floor issues (such as engineering, parts, tooling, outside vendor issues, etc.) directly or through support team members
  • Assist / liaison with Engineering Constraints (RED's, RFE's, SRPSA's and installs) in direct support of operations for all product lines
  • Assist in maintaining shop floor efficiencies at the highest levels of standard aviation maintenance
  • Become familiar with all new technical requirements issued (ICW's, AD's, SB's, TR's and AW's) and assist operations with communicating appropriate information
  • Assist in training and mentoring all newly hired technicians
  • Monitor and assist in training requirements to maintain proficient engine run, taxi and towing authorizations. (Supervise designated trainers and issue licenses as required)
  • Provide input on technician hire, promotion, reprimand and fire decisions
  • Act on behalf of Project Manager during absence
  • Assist operations as required to supplement Project Manager duties
  • Creates aircraft schedules for the shop floor
  • Assists Operations supervisor with morning meeting set up
  • Assists Operations manager with maintaining programs
  • Assists Operations team with coordinating support activities
  • Attend training classes, special technical and administration courses, seminars, exhibits and trade shows as necessary to maintain/expand knowledge with respect to technical and supervisory skills.
  • Actively coach/train technicians on service center goals and quality expectations while providing technical assistance and support.
How to thrive in this role?
  • You typically have a minimum of 8 years of experience in performing aircraft heavy/line maintenance, along with 1 year of experience with Bombardier product line.
  • You typically have working knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, for example, part 91, 121, 135, and 145
  • You typically have working knowledge of Repair Station Manual and aircraft maintenance inspection programs for jet aircraft
  • You have working knowledge of SAP and Pivotal maintenance transactions
  • You are motivated and self-directed with the ability to work independently
  • You have interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, all levels of management team and other departments.
  • You have verbal and written communications skills
  • You have a recognized high level of technical competency and credibility
  • You have training skills necessary to provide Technician training
  • You are a team player
  • You are able to influence without authority and develop results-oriented action plans
  • You have planning and organization skills necessary to plan, prioritize and coordinate technical support to maintain aircraft schedule.
  • You are motivated and self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • You have computer skills necessary to learn and / or operate word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, project, email and web-based applications
  • You have 2 years of supervisory or lead experience - preferred
