Job description

Job Summary

The Director of Integrated Annual Giving oversees a team of Annual Giving Liaisons who partner with colleges, departments, programs, student success initiatives, and University of Utah Health units to develop and execute annual giving strategies tailored to their unique goals and funding priorities. The Director provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure each partner area’s annual giving activities are strategic, donor-centered, data-informed, and aligned with advancement priorities. Working closely with the Senior Director of Campaigns and Communications, the Director helps ensure that unit-level annual giving plans support the broader institutional fundraising strategy while meeting the distinct needs of individual campus and health system partners. In addition to supervising Annual Giving Liaisons, the Director manages a portfolio of select partner units and serves as the annual giving lead for those areas. The position oversees campaign planning, budget management, performance reporting, stewardship strategy, campaign tracking, messaging review, and implementation of annual giving best practices.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Planning
  • Lead and supervise a team of Annual Giving Liaisons responsible for partnering with assigned colleges, departments, programs, and health system units.
  • Guide liaison staff in developing annual giving strategies and fundraising plans tailored to the goals, audiences, and funding priorities of their assigned partner areas.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Campaigns and Communications to ensure unit-level annual giving strategies align with broader institutional fundraising priorities and campaign objectives.
  • Maintain a portfolio of select partner units and directly develop and manage annual giving plans for those areas.
Campaign Development and Coordination
  • Oversee the planning and partner with the Associate Director of Campaigns and Communications on execution of annual giving campaigns developed in partnership with colleges, departments, programs, and health system units.
  • Review campaign priorities and calendars to minimize audience overlap, donor fatigue, and competing fundraising efforts.
  • Provide strategic guidance on fundraising appeals, campaign themes, audience segmentation, communication channels, and solicitation schedules.
Stewardship Strategy and Donor Experience
  • Develop and oversee stewardship strategies for annual giving donors across partner units.
  • Recommend stewardship touchpoints, donor recognition opportunities, impact reporting, and cultivation activities that support donor retention and long-term engagement.
Performance Measurement and Reporting
  • Establish annual giving performance metrics and key performance indicators for campaigns, partner units, and overall program success.
  • Identify, monitor, and analyze critical fundraising metrics including donor participation, retention, acquisition, upgrades, revenue performance, response rates, engagement, and return on investment.
  • Provide quarterly, annual, and campaign-specific performance reports to partner units and advancement leadership.
Budget and Resource Management
  • Manage annual giving campaign budgets, including direct mail, production, design, stewardship, and related fundraising expenses.
  • Monitor campaign expenditures and evaluate return on investment.
