Child Development Resources (CDR) in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a dynamic Director of Advancement to lead fundraising, branding, and community engagement. This senior role shapes CDR's philanthropic future, builds lasting donor relationships, and expands visibility and impact across the region.

The director will oversee strategy, campaigns, major gifts, grants, and integrated communications, guiding a talented team to drive sustainable support for children and families.

Qualifications

• At least five years of nonprofit fundraising experience including donor cultivation, stewardship, solicitation, and campaigns.
• Experience in marketing and communications, grant writing, events, and staff leadership.
• Ability to manage budgets, fundraising records, multiple priorities, and deadlines.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, relationship-building, and persuasive communication skills.
• Strong strategic planning, analytical, organizational, and leadership abilities.
• Proficiency with donor management databases and Microsoft 365 suite including Word, Excel, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive annual and long-term fundraising strategies.
• Lead fundraising initiatives including major gifts, annual appeals, planned giving, campaigns, sponsorships, and events.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, foundation, civic, and faith-based donors.
• Build meaningful donor relationships through personalized engagement and reporting.
• Oversee grant prospecting, proposals, and coordination with program leaders.
• Establish measurable fundraising goals, monitor performance, and identify opportunities to improve results.
• Lead branding, marketing and communications strategies to improve visibility and impact.
• Oversee PR, media outreach, website content, social media, newsletters, appeals and reports.
• Represent CDR at community meetings, donor visits, events, and external activities.
• Lead and develop the Advancement team, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with policies.
