Job summary

The University of Washington and University Marketing & Communications are hiring a Program Manager for Advancement Communications. This full-time role oversees day-to-day marketing and communications projects that support the university’s philanthropic goals, reporting to the Associate Vice President for Brand Marketing Strategy.

You will lead cross-department collaboration, manage project portfolios, and ensure brand-aligned content.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in program management, marketing, communications, development, or related field.
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with project management tools, such as Asana and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the University of Washington or a similarly large, complex organization, coupled with a passion for philanthropy.
  • Knowledge of alumni relations/development/advancement principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, prioritization and execution of development communications initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams for campaigns and donor engagement.
  • Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Keep stakeholders informed with regular updates.
  • Provide strategic project counsel to partners, ensuring alignment with goals.
  • Establish project management frameworks and tools.
  • Ensure brand-aligned content delivery and organized documentation.
  • Monitor performance and report progress for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across Advancement, University Marketing & Communications, and campus units.
  • Manage external vendors and freelancers with clear scopes and timelines.
