Job summary

City of Sacramento is seeking a skilled Traffic Control and Lighting Technician II/Advanced journey level to perform complex electrical and electronic work on traffic signal, street lighting, and parking revenue control systems. The role requires reading blueprints, troubleshooting at heights, and coordinating with field crews.

The ideal candidate will have specialized training in solid-state electronics and documented experience with state-of-the-art controllers such as Type-170 and NEMA 90.

Qualifications

• Specialized training in solid-state electronics.
• Approved training programs in the most complex traffic control devices.

Responsibilities

• Inspect signal controls, auxiliary equipment and street lighting; diagnose malfunctions and repair components.
• Repair, replace, or modify signal heads, controllers, relays, switches and cabinets; test electronic components.
• Set out barricades and re-route traffic for safe operations; investigate equipment malfunctions and perform field repairs.
• Maintain logs and schematic drawings for parking equipment and related devices.
