Job summary

Shields Advanced Therapies in New York City is seeking an Advanced Therapies Benefits Specialist to manage patient financial services. This full-time, hybrid role reports to the Director of Clinical Operations and targets providers, payers, and foundations to secure insurance coverage, prior authorizations, and financial assistance.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in healthcare billing or patient financial counseling, strong communication, and proficiency with healthcare information

Qualifications

• 5+ years in healthcare billing or patient financial counselling.
• Experience with insurance verification and healthcare financial systems.
• Familiarity with payer navigation for cellular therapy or bone marrow transplant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and verify patient insurance coverage and benefits with payers and PBMs.
• Facilitate prior authorizations for all components of treatment plans.
• Guide patients through Medicaid/Medicare or other financial assistance enrollment.
• Counsel patients on insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs.
• Coordinate with clinical staff, billing, and hospital departments on financial clearance.
• Develop and execute standardized benefits investigation and PA pathways.
• Support programmatic expansion of centralized Benefits Specialist function.
