Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to support specialty pharmacy services and patient access coordination. The role emphasizes benefits investigations, prior authorizations, and financial assistance navigation to ensure timely therapy initiation.

Working in a hybrid setting, you will collaborate with pharmacists and payers, document activities in the EHR, and help improve access to high-cost medications while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• PTCB certification required.
• At least 3 years of experience in retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care, medication access, or managed care required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct benefits investigations to determine coverage and patient financial responsibility.
• Prepare and submit prior authorizations and reauthorizations with complete documentation.
• Coordinate and track appeals with pharmacists, providers, and payers to support timely access to therapy.
• Facilitate patient enrollment in financial assistance programs (copay cards, manufacturer programs, foundations).
• Maintain ownership of access cases from initiation through resolution with timely follow-up.
• Identify and resolve access-related barriers and escalate complex issues as appropriate.
• Collaborate with providers, payers, manufacturers, and internal teams to expedite therapy access.
• Manage worklists and tracking systems ensuring turnaround time adherence.
• Document activities in EHR and systems per audit and accreditation standards.
• Support monitoring of operational and quality metrics such as turnaround times and approval rates.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Provide operational support to Clinical Pharmacists and ensure effective communication.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies and accreditation standards (URAC, ACHC).
