ARES is seeking an Advanced Safety Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency at Redstone Arsenal. The role involves developing, testing, and fielding an integrated Missile Defense System, providing high-quality, professional services for Agency-wide Safety as directed by the MDA Quality, Safety & Mission Assurance.
The position requires technical and program management support for the QS directorate at the Program and Project Safety Programs. The team combines engineering knowledge of missile defense and aerospace systems with safety process expertise to evaluate and execute safety measures for critical US assets. Responsibilities include technical evaluation and review of development, test, and operational systems, as well as supporting the development, implementation, and execution of MDS safety policies, risk management, and safety assessments.
Candidate requirements include experience with system safety, safety processes (e.g., MIL-STD 882), safety-critical hardware/software, explosive and radiation safety site planning, hardware/software qualification testing, and technical problem solving. The ability to develop and present safety risk assessments and technical briefings is essential.
Desired qualifications include a current DOD Security Clearance, an ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8 years of safety engineering experience or a relevant scientific degree with 10 years of experience.
