Job summary

The County of El Dorado Health and Human Services Agency seeks an Advanced Level Substance Use Treatment Counselor to join our Behavioral Health Division in Placerville. The role includes screening, case management, direct counseling, and coordination with other providers to support treatment goals.

Candidates should hold a BS in a related field, be eligible for certification, and possess a valid driver’s license. You will document thoroughly and participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree with major coursework in addiction studies/disorders/counseling, psychology, or closely related field.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California or Nevada Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
• Certification or eligibility per California DHCS approved certifying organizations.

Responsibilities

• Screening and assessments in the office and in the field for SUDS treatment.
• Formulate case management and treatment plan strategies with timelines.
• Provide direct counseling, individually or in groups; document progress notes.
• Provide referrals and consult with other providers for proper placement and treatment.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions for continuing education.
• Provide program information to clients, families, and the public.
• Maintain documentation per federal, state and county requirements.
• Attend meetings, committees, and conferences related to program goals.
