Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide diverse respiratory therapies under physician orders for adolescent through geriatric patients, including ICU care. You will assess status, perform arterial sampling, manage ventilators, and participate in CPR as needed.

Requirements include RRT licensure, BCLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and a relevant accredited program; BS RT and NRP are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited respiratory care program.
• Licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from Georgia Composite Medical Board in good standing without limitations.
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) by the American Heart Association.
• Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association.
• Certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association.
• Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy.
• Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in clinical practice; self-directed in goal setting in management of complex patients; adapts care to changing conditions.
• Delivers safe, competent patient care; follows current respiratory care guidelines; communicates with team.
• Assesses respiratory condition and determines treatment needs; implements therapies with clinical data.
• Interviews patients and family members for information related to patient care.
• Maintains functional equipment for departmental use.
• Follows safety procedures; reports malfunctions or injuries to manager.
• Performs arterial punctures and interprets blood gas analysis.
• Obtains arterial blood samples from indwelling lines.
• Performs pulse oximeter checks to evaluate respiratory status.
• Delivers oxygen, aerosol, positive pressure breathing, and chest physiotherapy.
• Delivers tracheostomy care including suctioning and tube changes.
• Initiates and maintains CPR as needed.
• Sets up, operates, and maintains ventilators; transports ventilated patients.
• Performs non-invasive gas monitoring and analyzes data.
• Maintains patient airways and bronchopulmonary hygiene.

Education

Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program

Licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by Georgia Composite Medical Board
