The Urgent Care APP (NP or PA) is responsible for providing healthcare services to individuals, families, and groups under Sentara Medical Group (SMG). Responsibilities include conducting health assessments, prescribing treatments, performing occupational medicine exams, and procedures in a walk-in Urgent Care center. Services are provided under the supervision of assigned physicians (collaborative agreement). The PA participates in quality assurance, team activities, and resource management.
This role requires flexibility for weekends, evenings, holidays, and 12-hour shifts. The PA must be able to work independently, move between regional locations as directed, and maintain continuing education and prescriptive authority. Additional requirements include acquiring special clinical competencies, participating in quality and risk management, and completing NRCME certification within 30 days of employment. Prescription authority is limited to VA staff.
