Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Belton, TX seeks a qualified clinician to augment a supervising physician in delivering mental health care to inmates at the Bell County Jail. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of Medical Director/Psychiatrist, conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations to assess patients' psychological, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
• Develop, recommend, and implement treatment plans.
• Conduct clinical screenings and assessments for inmate patients, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
• Prepare comprehensive clinical assessments and recommendations using sound clinical judgment.
• Assess and manage mental health risks, including crisis situations, ensuring patient safety.
• Maintain accurate, confidential patient records in compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with medical, psychiatric, and correctional staff to support integrated care.
• Meet productivity, quality, and documentation standards.

Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data-gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients at the Bell County Jail in Belton, TX under the direction and responsibility of a Physician.

Major/Essential Functions

• Under the supervision of the Medical Director and/or Psychiatrist, conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations to assess patients' psychological, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
• Develop, recommend, and implement treatment plans.
• Conduct clinical screenings and assessments for inmate patients, ensuring timely and accurate documentation in accordance with established standards.
• Prepare comprehensive clinical assessments and recommendations utilizing sound clinical judgment and professional best practices.
• Assess, identify, and manage mental health risks, including crisis situations, while ensuring patient safety and continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records in compliance with organizational, regulatory, and legal requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with medical, psychiatric, and correctional staff to support integrated patient care and treatment outcomes.
• Consistently achieve established productivity, quality, and documentation standards

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants; OR
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner candidates must have Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
• Psych experience is preferred for Physician Assistant candidates.
