Responsibilities

  • Educator, advocate and care provider for perioperative care and medical clearance.
  • Complete history and physicals for patients undergoing elective surgeries.
  • Optimize comorbidities of patients undergoing elective surgeries.
  • Perform risk stratification for patients undergoing elective surgeries.
  • Order and interpret EKGs, labs, imaging and cardiac diagnostic testing.
  • Obtain accurate medication reconciliations and provide perioperative medication management.
  • Consult with anesthesia, surgery and internal medicine; refer patients for further preoperative evaluation and optimization.

The Advanced Practice RN (APRN) –Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) works as an educator, advocate and care provider and is responsible for the care and well-being of patients being seen for perioperative care and medical clearance.

Complete history and physicals for patient’s undergoing elective surgeriesOptimize comorbidities of patient’s undergoing elective surgeriesPerform risk stratification for patient’s undergoing elective surgeriesOrder and interpret EKGs, labs, imaging and various cardiac diagnostic testingObtain accurate medication reconciliations and provide perioperative medication managementConsult with various specialties as needed (Anesthesia, Surgery, Internal Medicine)Refer patients to various specialties as needed for further preoperative evaluation and optimization

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Master of Science degree Current Indiana license or eligible for one Collaborative agreement with affiliated physician group Current Indiana Controlled Substance and Drug Enforcement Registration
