Job summary

Ascension St Vincent's Rainbow Ashtabula Pediatrics team seeks an experienced FNP or PA to provide pediatric care. APP experience is required; pediatric medicine, PICU or NICU exposure preferred. Schedule: Mon-Fri 8 am–5 pm with rotating weekends.

The Advanced Practice Provider will deliver high-quality care, support patient access, and work within Ohio Board of Medicine/Nursing guidelines under UH bylaws. Training and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • MSN in Nursing or PA education program completion.
  • Current RN/NP/PA licensure in Ohio.
  • 1+ year experience as NP or PA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessment and assign diagnoses based on data and current research.
  • Establish care plans and interventions per care paths and standards.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff; support professional development.
  • Demonstrate leadership and manage responsibilities.
  • Maintain PHI compliance and follow UH policies.

Job description

Seeking an experienced FNP or PA to join the Rainbow Ashtabula Pediatrics team. APP experience required, Pediatric medicine, PICU or NICU experience preferred. The schedule is Mon-Fri 8 am-5 pm rotating weekends.

A Brief Overview

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing quality care for patients and increasing patient access and satisfaction. Standard tasks to be performed by an Advanced Practice Provider as specified by the Ohio State Board of Medicine or Nursing and UH entity specific Medical Bylaws.

  • Performs patient assessment and assigns diagnosis based on recorded assessment data and current scientific and current research
  • Establishes plan of care and implements interventions in accordance with care paths, protocols, and standards of care and current research
  • Collaborates w/other health care providers in an interdisciplinary approach to provide care to the patient and family
  • Contributes to the educational development of staff, patients, family and self
  • Demonstrates progressive leadership and effective management
  • Provides education through role modeling and in-services to meet identified learning needs and to promote professionalism
  • Advances own professional development through self-directed learning, continuing education and participation in peer review
Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education Qualifications
  • (MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing, or
  • Master's Degree from an accredited PA educational program
Experience Qualifications
  • 1+ years as a NP or PA required
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships. (Required proficiency)
  • Must have computer skills to access patient medical data from UHHS mainframe. (Required proficiency)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio, and
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the State of Ohio, or
  • Current Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Ohio
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Preferred
