Job Description

Explore an exciting opportunity within our Pediatric Hospitalist Department at Brenner Children’s Hospital, as we welcome a skilled Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our inpatient team in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Work Environment:

Brenner Children’s Hospital, part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, is a top pediatric care provider with 175 inpatient beds and a Level I pediatric trauma center. Recognized nationally, it offers a collaborative environment for PAs and Pediatric Nurse Practitioners to provide exceptional care, grow professionally, and participate in quality initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care and support physician-led pediatric consultation services.
• Manage a subset of pediatric patients, including assessments and management plans.
• Assess new admissions, especially during trainee teaching times.
• Serve as the primary contact for PHM consultations.
• Facilitate discharges and educate patients and families.
• Mentor trainees in NP/PA programs.
• Support the PHM Trauma Consult Service with initial consultations and co-management.
• Coordinate consulting services and ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in quality improvement and research projects.
• Improve communication with nursing staff and participate in section meetings.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited PA or Nurse Practitioner program; Master's degree preferred.
• Current North Carolina Medical Board or Board of Nursing licenses.
• Experience in acute care or pediatrics (minimum one year).
• BLS & PALS certification required.
