Job Description

We are seeking exceptional, BE/BC career Hospitalists to join our expanding team at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist - Wilkes Medical Center.

  • Must be MD/DO
  • Three years Internal Medicine Residency required
  • North Carolina licensure or eligible
  • Schedule: week on/week off

Number of hospitalist beds/census: 60-65 patients

WMC has an open ICU. Tele ICU with aICU available. Sonosite available in E.D.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing acutely ill hospitalized patients, including admitting adult patients with medical problems.
  • Providing prompt and complete patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and procedures within scope of practice.
  • Collaborating with other physicians and healthcare personnel.
  • Providing inpatient consults and post-operative care.
  • Employing quality improvement techniques.
  • Discharge planning and patient discharge.
  • Transitioning patient care safely within the hospital and to post-acute care facilities.
  • Efficient resource utilization.
  • Training or supervising medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals.
  • Responding to Rapid Responses or Codes.
  • Assessing patients and developing plans for acute changes.
  • Coordinating with nursing staff.
  • Providing shift hand-offs.
  • Determining patient transfers to tertiary hospitals and facilitating contact with PAL line.
