Job description

The Urgent Care (UC) Advanced Practice Provider (APP), including Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, is part of an interdisciplinary team responsible for treating patients of all ages in an urgent care setting.

The UC APP's responsibilities include:

• Examining and treating episodic illnesses, minor injuries, and work-related health issues
• Performing specialized occupational health exams, such as Department of Transportation (DOT) and other fitness-for-duty assessments
• Providing initial and ongoing assessments of patients' medical, physical, and psychosocial health

The role involves:

• Obtaining relevant medical history
• Performing physical examinations tailored to age and history
• Conducting preventive screening procedures
• Identifying, recording, and updating medical and health risks and needs
• Formulating differential diagnoses based on history, physical exam, and clinical findings
• Assessing the needs of individuals or families based on evaluation data
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
• Prescribing appropriate pharmacologic agents
• Recommending nonpharmacologic interventions
• Performing in-office procedures as approved by supervising or backup physicians
