Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider in OB/GYN to augment a supervising physician's data gathering and care planning. The role covers comprehensive OB/GYN patient care, with duties including history-taking, exams, diagnostics, procedures, and patient education.

The position operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., in Midland. Requires PA or NP credentials in Texas with licensure transfer ability.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant training program approved by the CMA Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation; or graduation from an approved Nurse Practitioner program in Texas.
  • Current Texas PA license or ability to transfer; PA certification via NCCPA; RN license with Texas BON and NP certification, or ability to transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to OB/GYN patients under supervision, including assessments, exams, and management of conditions.
  • Obtain detailed histories, interpret data, and order/perform labs, imaging, and EKGs.
  • Perform immunizations, injections, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
  • Develop evidence-based care plans and document progress for continuity of care.
  • Counsel and educate patients and families on treatment adherence and healthy lifestyles.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to optimize outcomes.
  • Provide emergency medical care in accordance with protocols and safety standards.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Provide comprehensive medical care to OB/GYNpatients, including health assessments, physical examinations, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Obtain detailed patient and family histories, interpret clinical data, and order/perform diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and EKGs.
  • Perform therapeutic and preventive procedures including immunizations, injections, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based patient care plans, document progress, and ensure continuity of care.
  • Counsel and educate patients and families on treatment adherence, disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and developmental milestones.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide emergency medical care when necessary, in alignment with clinical protocols and patient safety standards.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.

Visa Information
