Job summary

UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for the Emergency Department. This 100% onsite role is based in the greater Chicagoland area and focuses on high-volume ED care with diverse procedures including laceration repairs, eye exams, pelvic exams, and splinting.

The APP will rotate through 12-hour shifts, may cover satellite ED locations, and join a collaborative team under ED leadership.

Qualifications

• Master's of Science in Nursing.
• Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration.
• Must be certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
• Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers.
• Emergency Department experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

Join UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in the Emergency Department. In this role, the Advanced Practice Provider will see large volumes of patients each day, with a primary focus on Emergency Severity Index's 3-5, simple laceration repairs, digital blocks, slit-lamp eye exams, pelvic exams, and splinting. The Advanced Practice Provider will need to remain flexible as the ED volumes fluctuate. This flexibility includes the potential to provide clinical coverage across our affiliated Ingalls Memorial satellite Emergency Department locations. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area.

The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management and will manage a caseload of patients by exercising autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The APP will provide healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical nursing specialist support, as well as complete administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership. The APP has acquired the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to assist the physician through organized instruction and collaborative practice.
