Job summary

SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, the SLUCare academic medical practice, seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a PRN/Fill-In role to support cardiac surgery and clinic services. The candidate must be skilled in OR first assist, EVH, and ECMO cannulation/de-cannulation, with strong diagnostic and bedside procedure capabilities.

The position emphasizes patient consultation, documentation, and ongoing learning, with leadership and time-management qualities

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years experience as an APP in Cardiac Surgery including Surgical First Assisting and competency in EVH.
• RNFA certification or PA-C credentials required.
• Experience in OR first assist and EVH is essential.

Responsibilities

• Serve as OR First Assist, including EVH and ECMO cannulation/de-cannulation.
• Perform comprehensive patient evaluation and documentation in clinic and OR.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and perform bedside procedures as needed (e.g., chest tube, central/arterial line).
• Demonstrate effective communication, leadership, adaptability, and meticulous time management.

SSM Health-SLUCare is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a PRN/Fill-Inrole to support our growing service line. SLUCare represents the academic medical practice of Saint Louis University, known for leading-edge care and groundbreaking research. This position will involve first assisting in the O.R., including endoscopic vein harvesting, as well as clinic. A competitive hourly rate will be offered based on experience as well as malpractice coverage but no other benefits.

Qualifications:

• Seeking candidates in the local St. Louis area or within driving distance
• Minimum of two (2) years experienceasan APP in Cardiac Surgery including Surgical First Assisting and competency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
• Seeking Nurse Practitioner with RNFA certification or Certified Physician Assistant

The Opportunity:

• The successful candidate must be competent in the O.R. First Assist role, EVH, ECMO cannulation/de-cannulation
• Responsible for comprehensive patient consultation and documentation, including ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic testing, and performing bedside procedures such as chest tube placement and removal and central/arterial line placement
• Perform patient evaluation and management including appropriatedocumentation in clinic
