Job summary

SSM Health-SLUCare in St. Louis, MO, seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join the Cardiac Surgery service line. The role includes first assisting in the OR, EVH, and clinic duties.

Responsibilities include patient evaluation, documentation, ordering tests, and bedside procedures such as chest tubes and arterial/central lines. On onboarding, schedule is 3x12s, then 5x8s, with 1:5 call; on-call from home but must reach hospital within 35 minutes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year APP experience in Cardiac Surgery including Surgical First Assisting and EVH.
• RNFA certification or PA-C with licensure eligibility in Missouri.
• Ability to obtain required licensure in the State of Missouri.

• First assist in OR with EVH and ECMO cannulation/de-cannulation.
• Consultation, documentation, and interpretation of diagnostic tests; bedside procedures.
• Perform chest tube and arterial/central line placement; manage patient in clinic.
• Demonstrate leadership, attention to detail, and continuous learning.
• Schedule: 3x12s post-onboard; 5x8s during onboarding; on-call 1:5, home call with 35-minute hospital arrival.

SSM Health-SLUCare is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join our growing service line. SLUCare represents the academic medical practice of Saint Louis University, known for leading-edge care and groundbreaking research. This position will involve first assisting in the O.R., including endoscopic vein harvesting, as well as in the clinic.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an APP in Cardiac Surgery, including Surgical First Assisting and competency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
• Seeking a Nurse Practitioner with RNFA certification or a Certified Physician Assistant
• Ability to obtain required licensure in the State of Missouri

The Opportunity

• The successful candidate will be competent in the O.R. First Assist role, EVH, and ECMO cannulation/de-cannulation.
• Responsible for comprehensive patient consultation and documentation, including ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic testing, and performing bedside procedures such as chest tube placement and removal, and central/arterial line placement.
• Perform patient evaluation and management, including appropriate documentation in clinic.
• Seeking effective communication, leadership, and adaptability, attention to detail, time management, and a continuous learner.
• Anticipated schedule of 3x12s per week once fully onboarded; will be 5x8s during onboarding.
• Anticipated call of 1:5 which is typically one shift per week and every fifth weekend.
• At home call but expected to arrive at the hospital within 35 minutes.
