Endeavor Health seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA) for ICU/Critical Care in Evanston, IL. Full-time, 40 hours weekly; shifts vary with some weekends, travel to NorthShore sites, no overnight calls.

Requires IL APN/PA licensure, PA-Master’s or APN- DNP, and BLS/ACLS; DEA license preferred. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient care, exams, orders, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Licensed Advanced Practice Clinician in IL required.
• Graduate of an accredited PA-Master’s or APN-Advanced degree program.
• BLS/CPR & ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients under physician supervision.
• Perform history, exams, orders, imaging and labs; interpret results.
• Instruct patients on treatment plans and pre/postoperative care.
• Maintain records and progress notes; follow patients across care settings.
• Collaborate with physicians and health-care team to optimize outcomes.
• Prescribe therapies per protocol; apply evidence-based practices.

Hourly Pay Range: $63.36 - $88.71 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

Position: Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA) – Critical Care/ICU
Location: Evanston Hospital, Evanston, IL
Full-Time (average 40 hours per week)
Hours: Monday-Friday between 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. & 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.; occasional 6:45 a.m. - 6:45 p.m.; rotating weekends and holidays required. No overnights or call.
Required Travel: Glenview, Highland Park, and Skokie Hospitals. Travel to all NorthShore sites during orientation and occasionally for cross-coverage afterwards will be required.

Job Description

• Under the direction of the collaborating physician(s), provides care to patients.
• Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations, orders imaging, lab tests and diagnostic procedures and interprets results.
• Instructs patients on the prescribed therapeutic regimen and pre/post operative instructions.
• Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments and procedures.
• Follows patients through their course of treatment in the clinic and hospital setting.
• Collaborates with physicians and the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate.
• Demonstrates evidence-based practice.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice in the specialty.
• Assesses the learning needs of patients and families across the continuum.
• Employs strategies, interventions and teaching to promote, maintain, and improve health.
• Provide comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribe treatments under the protocol in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease.
• Promotes wellness and prevent illness and injury in various settings for individuals, families, and communities.
• Works autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants.
• Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promoting high-quality patient experience.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals.
• Supports the strategic plan of the organization.
• Adheres to all Endeavor Health policies and procedures.
• Working with Intensivists & the multidisciplinary team, the CCS APP provide comprehensive exams, differential diagnosis, & prescribe treatments for the direct management of acute & chronic illness/disease for critically ill medical & surgical patients in the ICUs.
• The CCS APP work autonomously in interdisciplinary teams & positively contribute to high-quality care while maintaining safety measures with a goal of optimal outcomes a desirable patient experience.

Qualifications

• License: Advanced Practice Licensure (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in the State of IL required; Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required
• Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Associate Master's Degree program OR APN Masters (MSN) or Doctorate of Nursing (DNP) Program
• Certification: BLS/CPR & ACLS certification required
• Experience: Prior APN/PA experience preferred. Will consider ANP or FNP with relevant experience & training
• Special Knowledge and Skills Required: Experienced in critical care patient management mandatory OR completion of a one-year critical care residency required OR APN Acute Care NP OR Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP Board Certification (ACNP or AGACNP Board Certification) preferred
• Preferred Qualifications Cardiovascular experience a plus
