Job summary

The Advanced Practice Provider at VCU Health delivers high-quality medical and surgical care to patients, working in collaboration with the Attending Physician.

Within a Collaborative APP/Physician team, the APP conducts histories and physicals, orders/tests, diagnoses, treats, and may assist with surgeries while counseling and prescribing where appropriate. This role emphasizes organized, timely, cost-effective, quality care and state-approved scope of practice.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife or Physician Assistant program.
• Current Virginia licensure as NP/NMW or PA with national certification as applicable.
• BLS/ACLS/PALS as required by department.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates mastery of treatment and patient care for the assigned population.
• Coordinate patient care across the continuum with Attending Physician.
• Order and interpret tests, perform histories/physicals, and prescribe medications as appropriate.
• Assist with surgical procedures and provide counseling to patients and families.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation in the medical record and ensure safety and infection control.
