Job summary

WVU Health System hires an Advanced Practice Professional to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care as part of an interdisciplinary team. The APP assesses, diagnoses, treats, and manages patients within their scope of practice and area of specialty.

The role involves ordering tests, educating patients about regimens, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and staff while upholding professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing from a CCNE-accredited program.
• National APRN certification from a recognized center.
• Current or eligible WV RN and APRN licensure.
• BLS required; ALS/ACLS training as needed by department.

Responsibilities

• Administers or orders diagnostic tests (e.g., x-ray, POC labs).
• Examines patients and gathers information on condition.
• Educates patients on prescribed regimens, growth, development, and health maintenance.
• Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
• Makes diagnoses and treatment decisions for patients.
• Records medical data using the Meditech EMR.
• Performs injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
• Prescribes therapy or medications electronically where available.
• Educates and coordinates activities with medical assistants during care.
• Provides emergency support per established policies.
• Communicates with staff and administration to support operations.
