The role focuses on ICU/Med-Surg responding clinician duties, no procedures, with Epic EMR, MA license, ACLS/BLS, and DEA. Requires 2+ years of critical care and credentialing within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts PA license and acute care board certification.
• 2+ years of critical care experience.
• ACLS and BLS certifications current.
• Active DEA registration.
• Credentialing completed within 90 days.
• State licensure application initiated prior to client onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Provide ICU coverage during day and night shifts as a responding clinician.
• Perform minimum 2 weekend shifts per month (with preference for 4).
• Round with Attending physician in morning and afternoon; complete tasks.
• Manage bread-and-butter ICU and Med Surg cases including burn patients (1-2).
• No invasive procedures; no intubations, lines, vents, or transplants.
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation.

Job Title: Physician Assistant (PA)
Location: Boston, Massachusetts

Term: 26-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $95 - $102/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Physician Assistant (PA) for a locum tenens assignment in Boston, Massachusetts. These positions are 26-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a Physician Assistant (PA):

• Provide coverage in the ICU setting during 6a-7p or 6p-7a shifts (days or nights)
• Perform a minimum of 2 weekend shifts per month, with preference for 4 weekend shifts per month (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday; Friday nights count as weekends)
• Round with the Attending physician in the morning, complete tasks, and round again in the afternoon
• Act as a responding clinician in the ICU setting
• Manage bread and butter ICU and Med Surg cases, including 1 to 2 burn patients
• Perform no procedures; role is limited to responding clinician responsibilities only (no intubations, no lines, no vents, no transplants, no ECHO, no heads, no EVD, no complex neuro stroke)
• Utilise Epic as the EMR/charting software for documentation
• Maintain board certification in Acute Care with ICU experience
• Maintain valid Massachusetts state license (PAs only; NPs not considered due to licensing timeframe)
• Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Maintain active DEA registration
• Have a minimum of 2+ years of critical care experience
• Complete credentialing process within the required 90-day timeframe
• Apply for state licensure prior to client initiating the appointment process
• Report any hours worked beyond 40 per week for overtime consideration
• Self-report the first 8 hours of orientation as non-billable
