This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Duties
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for facilitating the fulfillment of the VAMCHS mission, vision, and values. The incumbent performs at an advanced level of nursing practice characterized by application of evidence in practice decision-making and increased complexity of clinical decisions.
The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a patient population. The incumbent works under the guidance of the Pulmonary attending and lung mass attending. The NP collaborates with thoracic surgery and the lung mass team to follow veterans after initial cancer treatment.

Qualification criteria for Nurse Practitioner II and III:
Nurse Practitioner II: Demonstrates leadership, manages a patient panel, utilizes research, and works effectively in teams. Entry-level for APN (NP) with no experience required.
Nurse Practitioner III: Demonstrates leadership and experience, manages complex care, and leads interdisciplinary teams. Requires one year of specialized APN experience.
Refer to VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-6a for full standards. The full performance level is Nurse III; the actual grade may range from Nurse II to Nurse III.
Physical Requirements: Regular bending, lifting, repositioning, moderate and light lifting/carrying, pushing, reaching, use of fingers, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, climbing, visual and auditory requirements, sitting, grasping, manipulation, twisting, and emotional stability are required.
