Advocate Health’s Neurosurgery team at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to support general neurosurgery and neurovascular services. You will work with leading neurosurgeons and interventional specialists to advance growing programs.

Responsibilities include inpatient consult responses, rounds, pre/post-op prep, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. New grads welcome with neuro experience preferred and active NP credentials.

Qualifications

• NP (AANP), DEA, BLS (may obtain within 6 months).
• Nurse Practitioner candidates must have Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification.

What You’ll Do

• Respond to inpatient consults for the general and neurovascular services and respond to hyperacute strokes.

Major Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute, critical, and chronic neurological conditions in an inpatient setting.
• Obtain histories, perform physical exams, and develop differential diagnoses.
• Prescribe medications, therapies, and treatments as appropriate.
• Interpret diagnostic studies and collaborate with physicians on treatment plans.
• Provide patient education on disease management, preventive health, and recovery.
• Coordinate care across multiple services, including pre-op planning and discharge.
• Document care plans and maintain records per established standards.
• Offer clinical guidance to nursing staff and ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications:

Experience:

New grads welcome; neuro experience preferred.

Physical & Working Conditions

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the day.
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards; PPE required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with patient transfers.
