Job summary

Advocate Health in Chicago is seeking a PA-C or NP to join the neurosurgery/neurovascular team. The role includes inpatient consults, daily rounds, and care coordination for pre- and post-operative patients, with one clinic day weekly.

Monday-Friday, overnight primary call (scheduled rotation) Initial onboarding at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for high-volume advanced neurovascular training. Pay Range: $54.90 - $82.35

What You’ll Do

Respond to inpatient consults for the general and neurovascular services and respond to hyperacute strokes. Perform daily rounds, progress notes, and patient assessments. Prepare patients for neurosurgical and neurointerventional procedures (pre- and post-op). Manage ER and hospital consults; one clinic day per week. Collaborate with multidisciplinary general and neurovascular teams.

Major Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute, critical, and chronic neurological conditions in an inpatient setting. Obtain histories, perform physical exams, and develop differential diagnoses. Prescribe medications, therapies, and treatments as appropriate. Interpret diagnostic studies and collaborate with physicians on treatment plans. Provide patient education on disease management, preventive health, and recovery. Coordinate care across multiple services, including pre‑op planning and discharge. Document care plans and maintain records per established standards. Offer clinical guidance to nursing staff and ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

PA-C or NP (ANCC/AANP), DEA, BLS (may obtain within 6 months). For Nurse Practitioner candidates, both Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification and Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) certification are required.

Experience

New grads welcome; neuro experience preferred.

Physical & Working Conditions

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the day. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards; PPE required.
