Job summary

WVU Medicine seeks a Primary Care APP to join an outpatient clinic and Nursing Home Care team at Wheeling East Cove Family Medicine in Wheeling, WV. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive primary care, order and interpret tests, and coordinate care for patients using Meditech EMR.

Qualifications include a Master’s in Nursing or PA program, WV licensing, and BLS with ALS/ACLS as required. This role supports clinic operations and patient education with 40 hours weekly in a

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing OR Graduate of accredited physician assistant program.
• West Virginia certification and/or license as required.
• BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support (ALS)/Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training at the discretion of the department.

Responsibilities

• Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray and POC lab tests.
• Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
• Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
• Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
• Makes diagnosis and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
• Obtains, compiles and records patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination utilizing the Meditech EMR.
• Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care and infection management.
• Prescribes therapy or medication – electronically when available.
