Job summary

Sustainable Wellness Solutions seeks a Patients’ Rights Advocate II to represent behavioral health clients in Sacramento County. You will conduct rights advocacy, investigate complaints, monitor facilities, and represent clients in hearings.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in patients’ rights advocacy or related client services.
  • Knowledge of California patients’ rights protections, LPS processes, W&I Code, and Title 9 CCR.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to represent clients in formal hearings.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients’ expressed wishes at Certification Review hearings and other proceedings under California W&IC.
  • Prepare for and manage complex hearings and advocacy matters per legal, contractual, and organizational requirements.
  • Receive and investigate complaints regarding abuse or denial of rights; begin investigations within two working days.
  • Elevate unresolved matters within five working days and report to PRA Lead, Program Director, or California Office of Patients’ Rights.
  • Monitor facilities for compliance with patient rights; document and report violations.
  • Provide training and education to facility staff and community partners on patients’ rights and mental health law.
