Job summary

UPMC in Pittsburgh is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care, assist with procedures, and support the RN with assessments and vital signs. The role includes performing core nursing assistant tasks, documenting in the medical record, and maintaining safety and professional communication.

You will participate in unit activities, respond to call lights, and support patient comfort and safety while collaborating with the health care team.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care including assisting with patient procedures and activities of daily living.
• Assists with physical, respiratory and cardiopulmonary therapies.
• Performs UPMC core nursing assistant responsibilities: blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collections and Foley care.
• Assists with additional tasks such as phlebotomy, EKG, dressing, Foley removal, point of care testing, bladder scan, IV catheter removal as needed.
• Documents in the medical record according to established procedures and completes department clerical functions as needed.
