Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Solid Organ Preservationist to operate advanced perfusion platforms and support liver and other solid organ transplants. You will work alongside transplant surgeons, anesthesiologists, and organ procurement teams to ensure donor organs remain viable and transplant-ready.

The role requires on-call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays, with a strong emphasis on safety, aseptic technique, and real-time data interpretation to intervene when needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in surgical, critical care, or transplant settings.
• Graduate of surgical technologist or surgical assistant program or a relevant bachelor’s degree in health science.
• Licensure or certification per requisition requirements.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up, operate, and manage machine perfusion systems to preserve donor organs.
• Support normothermic and hypothermic organ perfusion to maximize viable transplants.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot perfusion devices during use and maintenance.
