Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking an Advanced Nursing Extern to support the Emergency Department under the direction of a Registered Nurse in Prattville, Alabama. The extern will assist with selected technical tasks, data collection, and lab specimen collection as part of the nursing team.

Requirements include a high school diploma, current enrollment in an accredited nursing program, and completion of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Must have completed Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration.
• BLS certification required.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant software.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Support nursing department with selected technical skills and data collection.
• Collect lab specimens as part of routine duties.
• Carry out additional duties within the scope of the role as assigned.

Highlights: Summary: The Advanced Nursing Extern will be responsible to provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The Extern's duties and responsibilities are limited to those that fall under the scope of practice of unlicensed health care providers acting under the direction of a licensed nurse as per the Alabama Board of Nursing. This individual shall support the department of Nursing, which include, but are not limited to, selected technical skills, data collection, and lab specimen collection. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education/Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required. Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Must have completed a MINIMUM of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration in Nursing School.

Licensure/Certification

BLS required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
