Job summary

Baptist Medical Center South is seeking an Advanced Nursing Extern to support patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse during the third shift. The extern will assist with data collection and lab specimen collection, helping the Nursing team achieve smooth patient care workflows.

The role requires enrollment in an accredited nursing program, completion of core nursing coursework, and a BLS certification. The extern will work onsite and contribute to a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Must have completed Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration.

The Extern's duties and responsibilities are limited to those that fall under the scope of practice of unlicensed health care providers acting under the direction of a licensed nurse as per the Alabama Board of Nursing. This individual shall support the department of Nursing, which include, but are not limited to, selected technical skills, data collection, and lab specimen collection. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.**Education/Experience:**High School diploma or equivalent required. Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
