Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking an Advanced Nursing Extern to assist under the supervision of a Registered Nurse at Baptist Medical Center South in Alabama. The extern will perform duties within the scope of unlicensed providers under licensed nurse supervision, including data collection and basic lab specimen handling.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, current enrollment in a nursing program, and completion of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication

Highlights: Summary:

The Advanced Nursing Extern will be responsible to provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The Extern's duties and responsibilities are limited to those that fall under the scope of practice of unlicensed health care providers acting under the direction of a licensed nurse as per the Alabama Board of Nursing. This individual shall support the department of Nursing, which include, but are not limited to, selected technical skills, data collection, and lab specimen collection. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education/Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent required. Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Must have completed a MINIMUM of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration in Nursing School.

Licensure/Certification:

BLS required

• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
