Qualifications

• Physician Assistant graduates must have NCCPA board registration.
• Nurse Practitioner graduates must have a Master's in Nursing; AGACNP certification preferred.
• Massachusetts licensure for APPs is required; ACLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assess acute and chronic illnesses and obtain medical histories.
• Perform physical examinations and order tests.
• Formulate diagnosis and treatment plans and seek consults as needed.
• Prescribe and dispense medications; provide patient and family counseling.
• Rotate through campus, satellite, and partner locations across shifts.
• Attend didactic classes and educational experiences during the fellowship.

Job Details

• Intensive 12-month postgraduate fellowship program dedicated to enhancing the development of early-career advanced practice providers (APPs), including Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants
• Fellows will assess acute and chronic patient illnesses, obtain complete medical histories, and perform physical examinations
• Order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies as part of comprehensive patient care
• Formulate and implement diagnosis and treatment plans, seeking consultation or referral as necessary
• Accurately prescribe and/or dispense medication and counsel patients and their families/caregivers
• Exposure to diverse patient populations, including those under specialty services and pulmonary critical care
• Rotations through main campus, satellite facility, and partner hospital locations
• Expected to rotate through day, swing, and overnight shifts throughout the 12-month program
• Schedule averages 40 hours per week with every 3rd weekend
• Shifts are 9, 10, and 12 hours depending on day, swing, or night assignment
• 4 scheduled vacation weeks (160 hours total) included; vacation not permitted during first 12 weeks of fellowship
• 2 personal days earned, available during the last 30 weeks of the fellowship
• Fellows are expected to attend all didactic classes and educational experiences
• Physician Assistant applicants must be graduates of an accredited Physician Assistant program with documentation of NCCPA Board registration or successful completion
• Nurse Practitioner applicants must be graduates of a Master's Program in Nursing; AGACNP board certification preferred
• Active Massachusetts licensure required along with ACLS certification
• DEA number and Massachusetts Department of Public Health registration required as appropriate
• Influenza (flu) vaccination required as a condition of employment
