Job summary

Talentify in North Charleston, SC seeks an Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) to support Community Care Services. The AMSA performs duties of the full-performance GS-0679-06 position in North Charleston under the Community Care Service Line.

Typical duties include scheduling, data entry, insurance verification, and preparing for clinic visits while coordinating with physicians and care teams. This on-site role follows a standard daytime schedule with no telework.

Qualifications

• Experience with medical office scheduling and patient data entry.
• Familiarity with eligibility, co-pays, and preauthorization processes is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate with physicians and care teams.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments and consults.
• Enter no-show information and prepare for clinic visits.
• Ensure encounter forms are completed and up to date.
• Monitor inpatient and outpatient appointments within areas of responsibility.
• Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information.
• Process emergency and non-emergency transfers to VA facilities or private hospitals.
• Assist with basic eligibility, co-pays, and preauthorization requirements.
• Communicate with physicians and case managers and other staff clearly.

The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) serves as a Medical Support for Community Care Services and has the ability to fully perform the duties/functions related to all aspects of the full performance Advanced Medical Support Assistant, GS-0679-06 position in North Charleston under the Community Care Service Line.

Duties

• Scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient's appointments and/or consults
• Entering no-show information- Preparing for clinic visits
• Ensuring encounter forms are completed
• Monitoring both inpatient and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility
• Verifying and updating demographics and insurance information
• Processing of all emergency and non-emergency transfers to other VA facilities or private hospitals
• Performing basic eligibility, co-pays and preauthorization requirements for specific coverage
• Routinely communicates with physicians, case managers and other allied health professional staff using sound interpersonal skills
