Honeywell Aerospace in Tempe, AZ seeks an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer – Stress Analysis to join a global team of thinkers and doers advancing aviation technology. You will perform stress analyses, develop technical documentation, and collaborate with design and project teams.

Requirements include a BS in a technical field, 5+ years in static/dynamic/modal analysis using FEA (ANSYS preferred), strong communication skills, and a history of cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • 5+ years of static structural, dynamic, and modal analysis using FEA software (ANSYS preferred).
  • Fundamental understanding of ANSYS finite element software & hand calculation methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating collaboration and cross‑functional influence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stress analysis using complex finite element & classical methods and support testing.
  • Create technical documentation such as stress reports or part specifications.
  • Collaborate with project, design and other engineering disciplines.
  • Create and present analysis results in Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Reviews.

The Control Systems (CS) division of Honeywell Aerospace is responsible for a wide variety of product lines including air turbine staters, environmental controls, valves, and actuators. This position would be a part of the Tempe Analysis team who supports these various product lines using state‑of‑the‑art software tools. This team applies its expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost‑effective means to improve products, techniques, procedures, and technologies.

You will report directly to our Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Tempe AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Perform stress analysis using complex finite element & classical book calculation methods & support testing.
  • Creation of technical documentation such as stress reports or part specifications.
  • Collaborate with project, design and other engineering disciplines.
  • Create and present analysis results in Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Reviews
  • Provide workload estimation and maintain schedule adherence to meet key milestones.
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics

  • Fundamental understanding of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methods.
