Honeywell Aerospace in Tempe, AZ is seeking an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer – Stress Analysis to join our global team. You will perform stress analysis on a range of aerospace components using FEA and classical methods, generating technical documentation and supporting design reviews.

Reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, this hybrid-role emphasizes collaboration across engineering disciplines and timely workload planning to meet milestones.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering or technical field required.
  • 5+ years in static, dynamic, and modal analysis using FEA methods.
  • Fundamental understanding of ANSYS and hand calculations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create technical documentation such as stress reports and part specs.
  • Collaborate with project, design and other engineering disciplines.
  • Present analysis results in design reviews (PDR/CDR).

The Control Systems (CS) division of Honeywell Aerospace is responsible for a wide variety of product lines including air turbine staters, environmental controls, valves, and actuators. This position would be a part of the Tempe Analysis team who supports these various product lines using state‑art software tools. This team applies its expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost‑effective means to improve products, techniques, procedures, and technologies.

You will report directly to our Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Tempe AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Perform stress analysis using complex finite element & classical book calculation methods & support testing.
  • Creation of technical documentation such as stress reports or part specifications.
  • Collaborate with project, design and other engineering disciplines.
  • Create and present analysis results in Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Reviews
  • Provide workload estimation and maintain schedule adherence to meet key milestones.
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
  • 5 or more years of static structural, dynamic, and modal analysis using FEA software (ANSYS preferred).
  • Fundamental understanding of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.

Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.
