Steel Dynamics has openings in the Northeast Indiana FAME program!

NEINFAME focuses on developing critical professional skills while attending classes and earning an associate degree with education partner, Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne. Students will attend Ivy Tech classes two days a week and work onsite at Steel Dynamics three days a week. This two-year program is designed to prepare students for full-time employment as an Advanced Manufacturing Technician. Upon completion, students have a high probability of graduating debt-free and the option to continue earning a bachelor’s degree. Anyone who will earn a high school diploma by June 2024 and has a desire to gain hands-on, technical training is eligible to apply!

Responsibilities include:

• Assist with repair of equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Follow all safety principles and practices to ensure a safe work environment.
• Learn the role of Maintenance Technician and all associated duties.
• Assist in producing a quality product by maintaining well-functioning equipment.
• Ensure all environmental protocols are followed.
• Attend classes and progress toward an Associate’s Degree.
• Familiarize with various aspects of the operation.
• Attend and lead safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements include:

• Must obtain a high school diploma by June 2024.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Safety awareness.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn.
• Reliable transportation.

Available shifts include:

• 1st Shift: 7am-3pm (plus overtime) | Long-term potential based on attendance and performance
• 2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm (plus overtime) | Long-term potential based on attendance and performance
• 3rd Shift: 11pm-7am (plus overtime) | Long-term potential based on attendance and performance

Location: North Manchester, IN
Pay: $16.40 - $20.50 per hour
