Job summary

100Hires, Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to design and optimize multi-axis programs for milling, turning, and grinding of complex medical devices. You will study drawings, select tools, set speeds/feeds, and ensure processes meet customer requirements and machine capabilities.

Collaborating with Quality Engineering, you will develop process control plans, fixture designs, and support first-article and small-batch runs while maintaining TOMZ QMS compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of CNC programming and setup experience in medical device manufacturing or a comparable precision environment.
• Expertise in NC code, tooling selection, and manufacturing processes.
• CAD/CAM proficiency—SolidWorks and Esprit preferred.
• Proficient with blueprint reading and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Create and optimize CNC programs for multi-spindle, multi-axis, and Swiss-style equipment across milling, turning, and grinding for complex medical devices.
• Study drawings, CAD models, and sketches to define cut strategies, select tools, and set speeds/feeds.
• Lead and support process development and DFM activities with internal and external partners.
• Improve code quality and throughput to meet delivery timelines.
• Perform machine setups for first-article parts and short-run NPI builds; occasionally run small production lots.
• Design fixtures to enable efficient post-processing.
• Maintain TOMZ Quality Management System compliance.

You will standardize CNC programs to current best practices, research and implement new tooling and process technologies, and help ensure production goals are achieved across multiple sites.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate and optimize CNC programs for multi-spindle, multi-axis, and Swiss-style equipment across milling, turning, and grinding operations for complex medical devices.Study drawings, CAD models, and sketches to define cut strategies, select tools, and set machine speeds/feeds that align with shop processes, customer requirements, and machine capabilities.Lead and support process development and DFM activities with internal and external partners.Continuously improve code quality: correct errors and omissions, integrate new methods and tooling, and boost throughput to meet delivery timelines.Work closely with Quality Engineering to develop Process Control Plans, Manufacturing Inspection Plans, and determine gaging/fixturing needs.Perform machine setups for first-article parts and short-run NPI builds; occasionally run small production lots.Design fixtures that enable efficient post-processing.Maintain compliance with the TOMZ Quality Management System and contribute to other duties as assigned.QualificationsAssociate degree in a technical or scientific field, or equivalent experience.Minimum 5 years of CNC programming and setup experience in medical device manufacturing or a comparable precision environment.Expertise in NC code, tooling selection, and manufacturing processes.CAD/CAM proficiency—SolidWorks and Esprit preferred.Proficient with blueprint reading and GD&T.Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels and with external stakeholders.Analytical problem-solver with strong logic and reasoning.Physical RequirementsCapability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds; use team lift or mechanical assistance for heavier items.Comfort working around oil, grease, noise, cleaning solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, coolant, and sharp-edged materials; PPE such as safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, cut-resistant or chemical-resistant gloves, and engineering controls may be required.Ability to perform keyboard entry with potential frequent computer operation.
