Job summary

CSP Innovations, Inc. in Auburn Hills, MI, seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead cost estimates, DFMA workshops, and equipment/process design for CSP production facilities.

You will ensure manufacturability of designs and collaborate with IE and Product Engineering to optimize parts, tooling, and material handling. Responsibilities include launching equipment across CSP facilities, managing RFQs, and maintaining compliance with QA/QC policies while traveling 30–60% to support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relative field with minimum 5 years of experience.
• Knowledge of 3D drawing formats and GD&T.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Composites post mold processing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for assisting and developing manufacturing cost estimates for business cases
• Lead DFM/DFA workshops
• Ensure that customer requirements are met by planning and helping to design manufacturing equipment, tooling and processes for CSP production facilities.
• Coordinate the launch of manufacturing equipment/processes for new and revised products across CSP facilities from inception to execution.
• Ensure manufacturability of engineering designs and engineering changes.
• Collaborate with I.E. and Product Engineering groups to determine the parts, equipment, tools, material handling, part flow and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
• Maintain and ensure supplier compliance with equipment standards by creating detailed RFQ’s and efficient project management through timely design reviews, validation, and installation.
• Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, company performance standards and specifications.
• Effectively work and communicate with customers and/or Program Manager to interpret their needs and requirements.
• Perform overall project control of the equipment launch (budget, schedule, plans, open issue tracking) and report regularly on project status to all stakeholders.
• Review project deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions for all areas of the equipment/process being launched.
• Identify, qualify, and develop new equipment suppliers.
• Perform research, testing, measurements, data collection, and engineering analysis in office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.
• Complete moderately complex engineering assignments independently.
• Conduct time and method studies establishing time standards for manufacturing operations.
• Develop standards for equipment incorporating best practices with the latest technology and safety equipment in the industry.
• Conduct line balancing studies and material flow studies to achieve optimum balance between man and machine.
• Time management and organization skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relative field with minimum of 5 years of experience or technical training with 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering related field.
• Previous work experience or knowledge of engineering, automotive, or manufacturing strongly preferred including experience with navigating various 3D drawing formats and a working understanding of GD&T.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Composites post mold processing experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Job requires working in a manufacturing/plant environment.
• May occasionally lift or carry light items (up to 25 pounds).
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on the plant floor and in an office environment.
• Travel is required from 30 – 60%.
• Position requires exposure to noise, temperature extremes, moving parts, fumes, etc. in a plant environment.
