Job summary

Sun Chemical in Valparaiso, IN is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on plant equipment across levels 2–4. The role requires the ability to assess, repair, and maintain equipment and to work with contract staff as needed.

The position offers a Monday–Friday framework with multiple shift options and competitive pay. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and be willing to learn and advance through the levels by passing entrance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Willingness to learn and advance through multiple levels.
• Must pass level entrance tests and Mechanical Comprehension hands-on testing.

Responsibilities

• Follows all plant and OSHA safety policies, reporting near misses and unsafe conditions.
• Install, repair, and maintain all plant equipment, including new installations and special projects.
• Perform safely under stress when confronted with hazardous or urgent situations.
• Work with and train contract maintenance personnel and peers in the engineering trades.
• Keep work area clean and return parts and tools after job completion.
• Safely use all tools required for equipment installation, repair, and maintenance.
• Interpret manuals, specifications, schematics, drawings, and blueprints to complete repairs.
• Perform shop math and calculations for assigned tasks.
• Document all activities, needs, and repair status in shift reports.
• Assist production during extenuating circumstances to return plant to normal operation.
