Job summary

Scotland County EMS is seeking an experienced EMT-Paramedic to operate an on-site mobile medical unit and provide ALS care during on-site care and transport to hospitals. The role requires responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, delivering field care, and maintaining certifications.

The position involves documentation, equipment/ambulance maintenance, and potential public education activities in EMS and preparedness.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and some experience as an EMT Paramedic or equivalent combination of experience
• Possession of a valid North Carolina “Class C” driver’s license
• Possession of a North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic certification
• Possession of North Carolina Hazardous Material Level I certification
• Possession of North Carolina Emergency Vehicle Driver certification
• Possession of ACLS, PALS or PEEP, BCLS, ITLS certifications

Responsibilities

• Operates an approved mobile medical unit and provides ALS care on-site and en route to hospital
• Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls, providing ALS care and patient transport
• Delivers emergency medical treatment and ensures safe, efficient patient care in the field
• Maintains required certifications and participates in ongoing training to stay current with protocols and procedures
• Completes accurate and timely documentation, including trip and patient care reports
• Inspects, cleans, stocks, and maintains ambulances, equipment, and EMS facilities
• Provides training support and public education on EMS and emergency preparedness as needed
• Assists other emergency service personnel and performs additional duties as assigned
