Job summary

The State of Florida seeks an Investigation Specialist II to join the Office of Public and Professional Guardians. The role supports investigations of guardian-related complaints under the Department of Elder Affairs, reporting to the Investigator Supervisor.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Responsibilities include complaint intake, investigative planning, evidence gathering, witness interviews, travel as needed, and drafting detailed investigative reports with

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of investigative or law enforcement experience.
• Associate’s degree and two (2) years of investigative or law enforcement experience; OR
• Bachelor’s Degree; OR Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Review complaints for legal sufficiency and identify applicable statutes and rules.
• Provide an investigative plan within five business days of receipt.
• Submit requests for, and gather records, court filings, photographs, video recordings, and other materials.
• Conduct sworn, recorded interviews of the complainant, guardian, ward, and witnesses.
• Travel to conduct interviews and obtain evidence as needed.
• Evaluate all evidence and interviews to form defensible findings against applicable statutes or rules.
• Draft clear, concise investigative reports detailing allegations, witnesses, evidence, and findings.
• Draft additional findings of violations not in initial allegations and include them in the report.
• Assist attorneys in prosecutions and testify at hearings or trials.
• Assist other investigators when caseloads are high or others are unavailable.
• Perform other duties as required.
